Agnes Doerksen

August 23, 1935 - November 14, 2013

Agnes passed away at home, Nov 14, 2013. She was born to Henry N. and Agatha Unger Aug 23, 1935 in Bassano Alberta. At age 16 Agnes committed her life to Christ. In the same year her family moved to Abbotsford. Agnes was baptized and joined what is now Central Heights Church. On July 6, 1962, she married Harry Doerksen. They became the parents of two sons, Allen, born 1964 and Brian, born 1965. Agnes chose a teaching career and taught mostly in Abbotsford with the exception of 2 years in Paraguay. In 1992 she retired and became involved in prayer and teaching ministries. Agnes and Harry lived on a 5 acre hobby farm where Agnes enjoyed her roses and garden projects. Agnes is survived by her loving family – husband Harry, son Allen (Denise), son Brian (Joyce) and nine grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned at Central Heights Church on Saturday Nov 23 at 2 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dalit Freedom Network Canada (www.dalitfreedom.net) in memory of Agnes Doerksen. Gifts will aid Dalit women in learning to sew, with 50% going to the purchase of sewing machines and 50% going towards training and education for these women.

Agnes was a prayer warrior – she prayed with me (Diane) at two very pivotal points in my life and we know that God used her to make a huge impact on us. We have highest respect for Harry and Agnes – they have been amazing role models of walking through life led by the Spirit. We share your sorrow and pray that you will experience God’s comfort at this time.
