On November 17, 2023 Agnes Thiessen (nee Klassen) age 99, died peacefully in her sleep at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. Predeceased by her husband Dietrich and her six siblings. Survived by children Linda (Laurie, deceased), Walter (Christine), Elsie (Victor), eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Born in the village of Nieder Chortiza, Ukraine she immigrated to Canada and arrived in Abbotsford, B.C. in 1950.  She married Dietrich in 1952 and settled into a new home in Vancouver where they raised their family.  Agnes raised their three children with love and according to her values of being kind, fair, thoughtful and calm.  Some of her happiest times included cooking for large family gatherings, involvement in her church, travelling, gardening, card games and knitting for anyone who gave her a project. Agnes became a widow in 1985 and said that the loss of Dietrich was overwhelming for her but the Lord helped her carry on.  She returned to Abbotsford in 1998 to live at Garden Park Tower where she reconnected with many lifelong friends.  In 2018, Agnes moved to assisted living at Menno Place where she made many new friends and felt blessed to have been cared for by all the wonderful staff.  Family, friends and visitors were always welcomed with a warm greeting and smile. She maintained her positive outlook on life to the very end and will be greatly missed.

Interment November 24, 9:45 a.m. at Mountainview Cemetery, Vancouver.
