Amy Friesen
September 9, 1989 - July 28, 2016
Tribute
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our precious daughter, Amy Renee Friesen. She was welcomed into the presence of her loving Saviour and Lord Jesus on July 28, 2016 at age 26.
Amy was born in Abbotsford BC on September 9, 1989. She attended Abbotsford Elementary, Philip Sheffield Elementary, then graduated from Yale Secondary School in 2007. She then attended University of the Fraser Valley with every intention of becoming a teacher. She pursued this with classic Amy determination for a number of years, until, unbeknownst to us, her illness began taking hold. She thought she was losing her passion, but really, she was losing energy, and so she decided to take a couple of semesters off. But she didn’t sit idly. She continued working as a nanny with Amber for 7 years, and was involved in Sevenoaks Alliance Children's Church, Traverse young adults and helped in the church library. She loved her job at Floform Countertops in Abbotsford.
In 2011 Amy was able to travel to Nicaragua with Samaritan's Purse Biosand Water Filtration program which she became passionate about. In 2012 she travelled to Uganda, Africa with her friend Natalie to help at Watoto Baby Home for six weeks, and she also went on an amazing African Safari. They traveled Italy for a week before coming home. In 2013 Amy and her cousin Sarah enjoyed a dream vacation to Cuba.
Amy leaves to mourn; her mother, Betty Friesen and her father Phillip Ronald Friesen both of Abbotsford BC, her brother Chad and his wife Alysse of Grande Prairie, Alberta and her nephews Menno James (5), Arie Jesse (3) and her niece Ada Renee (1). She will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of dear friends.
She was predeceased by her grandparents Hermann and Katharina Jesse and Menno and Justine Friesen and her Uncle Henry Jesse. We would like to thank all of Amy's amazing friends and family that have supported and encouraged us, and most importantly for your faithful prayers to a loving God that carried us through this difficult journey. The family would also like to thank the Palliative Care Team at Abbotsford Regional Hospital for their wonderful care for our precious Amy in her final weeks and hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honour of Amy to Samaritan's Purse Biosand Water Filter Project. Phone 1.800.663.6500. A link is attached.
