Carol Ann Vogt (Passek)

September 9, 1946 - April 26, 2026

Tribute

It is with broken hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Carol Ann Vogt, on April 26, 2026 , at the age of 79, after a long, hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. She passed away peacefully in hospice in Abbotsford with her beloved husband, Arnold; children Carla and Gordon; and son-in-law Stewart by her side.

Carol was born in Vancouver, the eldest of four children born to Elsie and John Passek. She spent her childhood living in Powell River, BC. It was there that she met the love her life, husband, Arnold “Chester” Vogt in 1964. In 1967, Carol and Arnold were married and had their first child, daughter Carla. In 1971, their second child, son, Gordon was born.

In 1972, Carol, Arnold and the kids moved to Abbotsford, where they put down roots and bought their first, and only, home. Carol worked mostly in the retail customer service industry then spent the last 20+ years before her retirement in 2003 as the office manager/bookkeeper for Tri-Way Motors in Abbotsford, where Arnold was a co-owner.

One of Carol’s favourite things was gardening and she looked forward to planting flowers in her  gardens every year. Neighbours and passersby often commented how lovely her gardens were; some even knocking on the front door of the house to let her know. Marigolds, petunias, dahlias, daisies, pansies, to name a few, filled her gardens with beautiful rainbows of colour.

Another of Carol’s favourite things to do was to go shopping: grocery shopping, clothing shopping, book shopping, thrift shopping. Even after recovering from weekly chemo treatments, if she felt well enough she was determined to go out and shop. Before Covid times hit, every couple of months Carol and Carla would travel across the US border into Lynden and Bellingham for a full day of “girl-day cross-border retail therapy”. The shopping trip always ended with a trip to Edaleen’s Dairy in Sumas for an ice cream cone on the way home.

She was also fond of Saturday drives out in the countryside with the family and enjoyed regular visits to the local Tim Hortons with Arnold to meet up with a special group of ladies for chai tea and laughter.  Carol also loved to read and had fun playing cards with family and friends.

Over the past few years, Carol developed an interest in the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team and became a fan. Every day during the season she would always ask “When’s the game on!”. To keep her mind sharp she would do word search puzzles on a daily basis and was always up to date on current events by watching the local/world news.

Waking up to the sunshine in the morning was another of Carol’s favourite things. Seeing the sun beaming through the windows always brightened her day. Every morning she would put on her lipstick and her earrings even when she was feeling her worst in the days following her chemo treatments.  Doing so made her feel better.

Carol was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Susan. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Arnold; son Gordon; daughter, Carla; son-in-law, Stewart; sister and best friend Lynn; her brother John and his wife, Laura; her sisters-in-law, Adella, Kathy and Pearl; many nieces, nephews and friends; and, her dear friends, Rod and Hope, who had special places in her heart.

The family wishes to say a special thank you to all the wonderful doctors and nurses at BC Cancer and Abbotsford Regional Hospital who took wonderful care of Carol when she was diagnosed with cancer and while she underwent her chemotherapy treatment.

A Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.

☙❤︎❧ In every memory, we keep a piece of you alive, forever etched in our hearts. ☙❤︎❧
