Charlene Laverne Miles
February 8, 1971 - September 11, 2021
Tribute
It is with profound sadness that we share the loss of our first born, our love, our daughter Charlene Laverne Miles in Surrey, BC, on Saturday, September 11, 2021. Survived by her parents, Keith and Laverne Miles of Trail, BC, Charlene is also survived by her partner of 23 years, Neil Allatt, and her children, Nelson and Laila, all of Surrey, BC. She is also survived by her sister, Laural Miles of Trail, BC, and her nephew Justin Miles (Erin Miles and great-niece Brinley Miles) of Montrose, BC and her niece Ashlyn Miles of Nelson, BC.
Charlene was born February 8, 1971 in Vancouver, BC. She grew up in Trail, BC, graduating from J. L. Crowe Secondary School. She also graduated from Nottingham University in England with a BSc. in Heritage and Landscape Design in 2004. Charlene lived and worked overseas until 2013 before moving to Port Alberni in 2016. Just recently Charlene and her family relocated to South Surrey, BC where she passed away.
Charlene was devoted to her partner Neil and family, and always loved being active with the kids whether it was hiking local trails, spending time at the lake, or supporting them in community sports such as soccer, track, baseball and hockey.
Charlene was vibrant, engaging, and easily made friends wherever she lived. She was an accomplished gardener at her many homes and a creative designer who collected and displayed engaging crafts and artwork for her family to enjoy. She will be sadly missed by all.
Many thanks go to Charlene’s friends for their support and help at her new home in Surrey, as well as the nurses of the Home Health team, and in her finals days, to the caring staff at the Melville Hospice Home unit of the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation Lodge. Wiebe & Jeske Burial & Cremation Care Providers of Abbotsford, BC, has been entrusted with her care and final arrangements. At the family’s request there will be no service but a celebration of life will follow in the Spring. Cremation has taken place. In sympathy, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Foundation in Charlene’s name and in her memory.
