Clinton Wayne Goertz

March 4, 1936 - April 6, 2026

Tribute

Our dad, Clinton Wayne Goertz took his first breath in heaven after 90 years of a life well lived.

Born in Hodgeville Saskatchewan to Jacob and Elizabeth Goertz, Dad moved in 1947 to Abbotsford with his family; his parents, brothers; Vernon, Orville, and Donald and a sister, Evelyn (Seifred) who all predeceased him.

He married the love of his life, Irene Sawatzky in August of 1957.  They celebrated 68 years of marriage together in 2025.

Dad’s life is celebrated by his wife Irene, his children; Daryl (Diane), La Vonne (Alan) and Loren (Bev); his 6 grandchildren; Brianne, Daniel, Hayley, Chantelle, Elissa and Chris and 14 great-grandchildren.  He also has one surviving sister-in-law, Merla Goertz (Donald) and many nieces and nephews.  His legacy lives on in each of us who remain.

Dad spent his working life at the Imperial Oil (ESSO) bulk plant that used to be on South Fraser Way.  In his 47 years there, he washed the trucks, drove the trucks and in his later years he ran the office.

Dad was a man of few words.  He worked hard, was a good provider and he loved his family well.  While it is difficult to give your beloved husband/father/grandfather back to God, we know he is now with the Lord Jesus Christ.  We will all miss him greatly, but have faith to believe that we will meet again.

There will be no service at his request.  A private family internment ceremony at Hazelwood Cemetery will be scheduled at a later date.

Thinking of all the Rainbow Ave. Goertz clan. Your Dad was a quiet, gentle soul and was always kind to myself.
