Dale Kenneth Baerg
November 22, 1943 - November 13, 2025
Tribute
With deep sadness and loving remembrance, we share that Dale Kenneth Baerg passed away on November 13, 2025, in Abbotsford, BC, at the age of 81. Though his passing was sudden, it is a joy and comfort to know that he is now happily in the arms of Jesus, his Lord and Saviour.
Born to Samuel Orlando and Mary Elsie (Hinz) Baerg in Saskatoon on November 22, 1943, the family moved from Langham, Saskatchewan to Surrey in 1947. Dale married Donna (McLellan) in 1963 and they had three children: Jef, Shelly, and Jason. In 1991, he married Linda (Gauthier). They enjoyed the fellowship of the South Abbotsford Church family and lived at North Oaks Manor where, as elsewhere, Dale was loved by all those who came to know him.
Growing up, Dale developed a love of music and old cars. He held a variety of jobs in the trucking industry, ranging from machining motor parts at Nubuilt and building dump bodies at Nahanni to driving truck for his nephew John at Valleybrook Gardens. He enjoyed truck driving and looked forward every spring to see what new plants had come into the nursery. He liked that job so much he said he’d have worked for free! Dale loved to drive, whether it was Sunday outings with the family, trekking on family vacations, heading halfway across the country to visit family, or exploring aboard his Gold Wing. He had a broad, warm smile beneath those beautiful blue eyes, and his kindness and gentleness were legendary. Dale’s sense of humour was a treat, and a good joke or story was often accompanied with a hearty slap on his knee, a great laugh, and an unforgettable grin. He loved his family.
Dale is survived by his wife, Linda, and his children Jef (Carol), Shelly (Dan) Voyer, and Jason; Linda’s children Jason Smith (Mary Ellen Thorburn) and Deanne (David) Soltys; grandchildren Nolan Baerg (Blaire Harnett), Emily (Nathan) Unger, Cherise (Brad) Williams, Chelsea, Josee (Ryan Hindemith), Marielle, Janine, and Melody Voyer, Carson (Brittany) and Dallas Baerg, Adam, Jonathan, and Christopher Soltys, and Eliska Kopacek-Smith; great-grandchildren Micah, Lydia, and Julia Williams, Ivan and Callen Unger, and Freya, Jackson, Greyson, and Everly Baerg; siblings Janice (John) Goertz, Claire (Rudy) Peters, Brad, and Marilyn (Garry) Peters, many nieces and nephews, and plenty of friends.
He is predeceased by his sister-in-law Iris Baerg, daughter-in-law Carol (Jason) Baerg, and nephew Kevin Baerg.
According to Dale’s wishes, there will not be a memorial service.

From: John Schroeder
Relation: He was my wife's uncle, and he drove truck for our nursery for many years
Dale was a true gem of a man. Loyal, reliable, friendly, honest and trustworthy are just a few of his attributes that I observed through the many years that he delivered our nursery’s plants throughout western Canada and USA. He was loved and appreciated by our customers, highly valued by his managers, and deeply appreciated by me.
He will be greatly missed, but always remembered.

Thankful I got to spend time with you these last few years. Playing harmonica together, laughing & making jokes, & just being together. I’m honored that I got to be with you in your last moments. I know you loved me & were proud of me. Can’t wait to see you in heaven, you’ll be the first person I’ll look for! Love you lots.
