Darren Edward McIntosh

February 26, 1982 - November 4, 2020

Tribute

It is with deep regret to announce that our son Darren Edward McIntosh ( 38 ) has passed away on Nov. 4 2020. His loss was completely unexpected and the family is shocked and deeply saddened.

Darren was born on Feb. 26 1982 to Trevor and Lorraine McIntosh in Abbotsford, BC.
He attended Philip Sheffield and Yale Secondary School. It is at Yale where he met his wife to be , Meagan. They went on to have 3 children , Ethan (13) , Makayla (10) and Emma (7) .
He played Soccer and Baseball while growing up , but his real passion was playing his Bass Guitar, Philosophy, Hiking and writing poetry.

He was always questioning the meaning of life and had an immense respect for metaphysical facts, principles and truths. He was extremely intelligent and very funny. We have many great memories of his humorous escapades.

His marriage didn’t survive and with that he found himself struggling. But luckily he found a special friend in Beverly Elander. She became his rock and best friend. With her help and love he managed to find his place in life again. His children were his life and he loved them very much.

He will be missed by his parents Trevor and Lorraine, brother John, children Ethan, Makayla and Emma, maternal grandmother Randi, Aunts Cathy , Deb (John ) , Diane ( Mike), Brenda ( Barry) , Charlene ( Rick ), Bonnie ( Cal ) , Uncles Rob and George , his girlfriend Beverly and wife Meagan. As well as his nieces, nephews, friends and cousins.

” I stopped telling myself that I’m lost. I’m not. I’m on a road with no destination. I’m just driving with hope that I’ll find a place that I like and I’ll stay there. I’m not lost, I’m on my way ”

Till we meet again Darren….. love you to the moon and back

Lorraine, Trevor, John, Meagan (Ethan, Makayla, Emma) and Beverly, when I was told what happened the memories of Darren came rushing to me, there are too many to count. I feel like I have to share one of them. Over 30 years ago him and I found ourselves together at the same babysitters, we spent countless mornings and afternoons together waiting for our parents to pick us up after work. One of those afternoons we decided we wanted to see what it would be like to parachute out of the fort the babysitter had in the back yard, at 6-7 years old it seemed like miles up in the tree. We grabbed the closest thing to a parachute there was available, 2 Safeway plastic bags. Obviously this did not turn out well, we both jumped from the treehouse and dropped like a brick to the ground (laughing) but we proved to ourselves that it couldn’t be done with trash bags. I am constantly reminded of this story due to my 7 year old son who always asks me if i think he should jump off something (usually it’s pretty high) I tell him this story (I’ve told it to many others). The more I think about it the stories add up, like the time we were chosen out of the whole school to bring our science fair project to the mall “Electrifying Electricity”, we won 1st place, one year we decided to dress up as the rap group Kris Kross (jeans, baseball jersey and hat all backwards), we thought we were pretty cool. I can remember the musical influence he had on me, if he was into it I was into it, when Nirvana unplugged came on MTV he watched it with his eyes glued to the tv, I can remember the look on his face. I could go on……….I will always remember Darren as one of my closest friends no matter what direction we went after high school. The closeness our group had coming up from kindergarten to high school grad is rare, I’ll cherish it forever.
