Tribute

On August 23^rd Dave’s guardian angel lifted his soul to heaven.  He will be lovingly remembered by Phyllis his wife of 55 years, sons Greig (Marg) and Brian (Sandy), granddaughters Amanada (Alex) Klop, Kristi (Kasz) Grabouski, and three great-grandsons Bentley, Mason, and Willem Klop, brother Jim(Joy), sister Sharon (Roy) Terry, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Dave was predeceased by brother Bill and sister Laurie Baker.   Dave was born April 18^th, 1936 in Regina to parents James and Caroline.  The family moved to Vancouver during Dave’s teenage years where he graduated from King Edward High School.  While attending night school classes at UBC Dave began a dedicated 39 year career with Overwaitea Foods.  Dave met the love of his life Phyllis in Vancouver.  They raised their family in North Burnaby and Langley, BC. and later moved to Abbotsford in retirement.   He enjoyed many hours coaching his sons in minor hockey and taking the family on vacations to visit relatives and friends in Saskatchewan, Ontario and the USA.  Dave and Phyllis travelled to many countries around the world during his life time.  Dave enjoyed many years of singing with two men’s chorus groups and also travelled to chorus competitions in Canada, NZ, USA and Finland.  The family would  like to thank the Abbotsford Cancer Clinic, Palliative Care Unit and Home Care Team for their compassionate care of Dave.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 1^st, 1:00 pm at Christian Life Community Church, 35131 Straiton Road, Abbotsford, BC.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
