David Mcgowan

September 21, 1935 - December 7, 2015

Tribute

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather after a brief battle with cancer.  He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Helen, son Tom (Debbie), daughters Maureen (Ron) and Karen (John), grandchildren Kevin, Christine, Cami, Nicole and Craig, his great grandchildren Jordan and Tyson and his sister Marg.  Dave was born and grew up in Kimberley BC, moving to Vancouver in 1952 where he attended King Edward High School and met his soon to be wife Helen.  He started his 37 year career in BC Tel which took him from Vancouver to Victoria, Campbell River, Prince George, Kamloops and Abbotsford – retiring out of the Burnaby Education Center.  He continued to serve his community by volunteering with Valley Alert Life Line and Saint John Ambulance.  He enjoyed his retirement especially travelling on various cruises, following his grandchildren’s sporting events and relaxing on Denman Island.  His bright smile and twinkling eye, matched his wicked sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew him.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
