Dirk Vink

Tribute
Dirk was born in Wyngaarden, Holland on October 15, 1932, to Gysbert and Maria Vink. He was raised with 9 siblings on a small dairy farm in Oud Alblas, Holland.
In May of 1952, Dirk and three of his siblings, along with a sister-in-law, niece and nephew, boarded a ship and sailed to Canada in search of their dreams of becoming farmers!
In Feb 1955, Dirk met and married the love of his life, Betty, and together they raised their 6 children!
In 1959 Dirk and Betty rented a dairy farm in Matsqui and began farming on their own, and in May 69, they bought their dream farm in Yarrow! He retired from dairy farming in 1996 and together they built their dream home, designed by Betty, on the same property!
A few years later, they purchased a new pontoon and a cabin on a lakefront property at Loon Lake in Cache Creek. They have spent many weeks vacationing at the lake, fishing, boating and making lots of special memories!
Some of his many passions were God, his wife Betty, family, farming, crusaders, youth group, friends and a real interest in politics and current events! Dirk was so proud to be a Canadian and cared so much about his country!
His hobbies were hunting, fishing, roller skating, snow skiing, water skiing, hiking and camping trips.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Betty, daughters, Linda (Ernie) Charlene (Martin) Karen (Doug) Donna (Art) and son Jim (Mary), 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren, sister in law Ans, sister Maria (Nick) brother Walter (Geri) and his large extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents, 7 siblings, son Kenneth and grandson, Kevin.
His greatest desire was that his family and friends will meet him in heaven one day!
His celebration of life will be May 1, 2026 @ 11:00 am. Yarrow Alliance Church, 42479 Yarrow Central Rd. Chwk BC. Refreshments to follow downstairs.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Salvation Army, Union Gospel and Camp Homewood

Dear Betty and Family, it was my privilege to farm next to Dick in the 70s and 80s. He was always interested in my latest farming developments and always encouraging to me as I was only in my 20s with a young family at the time. He made it fun to farm next to him. He will always be remembered for this. We send our sincere Condolences to the whole family.
