Doreen (Dyck) Orr of Abbotsford, BC passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on October 30, 2019. Born in Winkler, Manitoba, Doreen was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gordon in 2000 and is survived by her children, Douglas (Lori Brody), Bob (Linda Findlay), Tracey (David Daluiso), and Steven (Nadine); grandchildren Clayton, Rachel, Ashley, Jesse, Jakota, Shaydon, Jordon (Aidan Wanamaker), McKenzie, Annabel, Mason, Alex, and Mathew; and 3 great grandchildren. She was greeted at heaven’s gates by her many family members, in-laws, and friends who went on before her and we rejoice in the knowledge that her earthly suffering is now over and an eternity of joy has begun.
Doreen graduated from the Vancouver General Hospital nursing school in 1964 and spent her life as a registered nurse, first in Merritt, BC and then in White Horse, Yukon, where she met Gordon and finally in Abbotsford, BC where she went from being a maternity nurse to an OR nurse and ultimately became site-leader at MSA Hospital and Abbotsford Regional Hospital until after her 70th birthday. To say that nursing defined her is not accurate. Rather SHE defined nursing. Her career was an inspiration to many and those who worked with her or studied under her, I believe, are better nurses because of it.
In addition to being a skilled nursing supervisor, she was a devoted wife, loving mother and sister, and a loyal friend. We grieve together with her brothers and sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews and in-laws from both the Orr family and the Dyck family, all of whom she cherished immensely. She will be deeply missed and her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Heaven welcomed a beautiful soul. Rest in peace, Mom. We will love and miss you always.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, November 23 at 1:30 pm at New Testament Baptist Church at 5525 Gladwin Rd, Abbotsford.

I am saddened to hear of your loss. Mrs.Orr (Doreen) will always be remembered as a highly respected hospital supervisor/site Leader.
Her competitive streak was noted by her red scooter racing to the MSA/ARH elevators enroute to solving one of the many problems she attended to.After resolving the problems, the hospital staff always felt supported and comforted by her presence. She shared fond memories of her years at VGH School of Nursing and enjoyed volunteering with their alumnae. Her life was filled with service,love compassion and excellence. My deepest condolences. May she rest in peace.

Oh I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Orr’s passing. I worked in staffing at ARH and would arrive to work with her on a night shift. She was always so pleasant and happy. My condolences to all of her family.
