August 17, 1928 - January 11, 2013

Tribute

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Dorothy is survived by her husband Richard, daughter Karen and son-in-law Len, son Richard and daughter-in-law Margaret and her grandchildren Stephanie and Richard.

Dorothy was born in Chilliwack where she spent her life devoted to making the city she loved a better place to live. She served on council for 31 years and her achievements and awards are far too numerous to list. She was truly a special lady.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to those in the community, the City of Chilliwack  and all her friends for their kind words. We would also like to extend our heart felt thanks the staff in the CSICU at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster , her physician Doctor Scott Markey, Doctor Elliot Chum and all of the many nurses and medical staff for their loving care.

She was deeply loved and will always have a place in our heart. Dorothy was laid to rest at a private family service.

You are welcome to make a donation to the Heart & Kidney Foundation in Dorothy’s honor.

Karen and Richard, I am so sorry to hear of your Moms passing. She has left me with so many memories of my younger days. Your old house on Glenwood is still known to us as ” Kostrzewa’s”..always will be..many memories there. She was a kind and compassionate person, and a great attribute to the City of Chilliwack. She will be missed by so many who knew her. My deepest condolences to you both and your Dad.

Relation: Very good friend

Dear Karen and Richard. I am sending from my home in Israel, my deepest condolences on the loss of your mother. You, your family and the many people in Chilliwack have I am sure, very special memories of a true lady who cared about the people that she came in contact with. Dorothy was a friend of mine who supported all my ventures in regards to helping the seniors of the district, namely the Seniors Resources Society, Time Out, Activity Plus and the Elder College. She was also a good sport. I remember her climbing an elephant when the circus came to town. For a short lady, she sure climbed to high positions, broke the glass ceiling and gained respect from all who knew her.
