The Service of Remembrance for Elsie will be held at
Sardis Community Church,

February 13 th , beginning at 10:30am.
Fellowship over a light lunch will follow.

Relation: Connected with her through my role with MCC BC (Service Worker Coordinator) and when she worked with MCC BC and I was HR Director.
Walt and family — while I am on the opposite end of Canada — Atlantic Coast, I sit and ponder the news that Elsie has passed. My deepest condolences are extended to you all. Elsie has been a light to all those she encountered …. inspiring, caring, grace filled, speaking truth to power …. from the first time I met her when she introduced me to the possibility of MCC helping sponsor Sardis Doorway as a “service worker” placement ….. I have been amazed by her vision that embodied the Gospel and challenged the church in how it accompanied/s people who experience violence/abuse. She brought that vision directly into MCC BC by enhancing the End Abuse Program ….. as her vision of Doorway continued beyond her tenure with Doorway …. I am confident that she has truly left a legacy and foundation for the work that is being done in walking with people who are abused, programs that are offered to accompany abusers who wish to change and also trainings to enhance the church in walking with hurting people, and seeking to even address pastoral abuse of power ….. her spirit will truly live on in Chilliwack, in your family, in the church, in MCC BC …… and the programs will hopefully continue to grow. Thank you for your support of Elsie in all she did in her working career ….. well into what should have been retirement years. She is deeply loved!
