Tribute
Eric Schier passed away peacefully at Cheam Village, with his wife, Martha by his side on December 18. 2016 in Agassiz, BC at the age of 94. Eric is survived by his wife, Martha of Agassiz, BC, Daughter Sharlyn (Joe) Bordeville of Aldergrove, BC, Son Richard (Alma) of Armstrong, BC, Son Ed (Sue) of Keremeos, BC, Daughter Debbie (Chuck) Goodwin of Chimicum, WA, Son Marvin (Gayle) of Chilliwack, BC, Son-In-Law Phil Duncan of Aldergrove, BC brothers Walter (Irene) and Max (Thelma) of Regina, SK, Sister-In-Law Martha Depner of Summerland, BC and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Eric is preceded in death by his daughter Darlene in 2014, his mother Martha in 1950, his father William in 1972, his sister Hilda in 1997, and his brother Alfred in 2008. Eric was born on May 6, 1922 in Laar, Germany to William and Martha Schier. They moved to Marshall, Saskatchewan in 1925. He joined the army in 1942, where he served for 3 years. He spent 1 ½ years in Europe during World War II.
He married Martha Depner in 1950 after moving to Lashburn. Eric and Martha and their 5 children moved to Leduc, AB in 1960, where 1 more child was born. In 1968 they moved to Chilliwack, where they resided until moving to Cheam Village in Agassiz, BC in 2012. Eric will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank the Cheam Village Staff for the special care and support they provided to Eric and the family. A funeral is scheduled for 10:00 am on January 3, 2017 at the First Avenue Christian Assembly, 46510 First Avenue, Chilliwack with a reception to follow. Pastor Elmer Martin will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Eric’s life.
