Born June 4, 1936 in Coaldale, Alberta passed away January 23, 2017 in Abbotsford. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Sandra Anne (Loewen); sons Brian (Michelle) and Greg (Danielle); grandchildren Te’o and Miranda; sister Lucy (Dave Gmur) and brothers Ernie (Carol) and Henry; and many nieces, nephews and friends. The Schmidt family would like to thank the staff at the Abbotsford Hospital for their care and kindness. No service by request.

Dear Cousins Ernest, Lucy, Henry and Sandra Anne, Brian and Greg: Please accept my sincerest sympathies and condolences on the passing of Eric. I remember how we used to come and visit you and play together when we were young children, shortly after our family moved to B.C. from Alberta in 1949. Great memories even though we lost touch later in life!when my wife and I were missionaries in Brazil and Angola, Africa! Blessings on all of you!!

Sorry to hear of your loss of Eric.
Many years since we have seen each other. I remember the time Elizabeth & I visited. You two were visiting inside, I was talking with Eric outside as he was finishing up some maintenance on your or his car.
He started telling me about some of your different cars that he repaired or rebuilt. He had a knack & good ability for auto maintenance & repairs & he enjoyed talking about them.
We were visiting from Lumby at the time.
We have now been back in Abbotsford for a little over a year & a half.
Eric was just a few months younger than me. I was born Feb. 25,1936.
