Erna Falk (Eichhorst)

January 5, 1934 - December 10, 2021

Sadly, Erna passed away at Abbotsford Hospital losing her battle to COVID, and is survived by her husband Gerhard Falk.

Erna was one of the last Superheroes in our family story.

Erna is predeceased by her first husband Aron Reimer (2009) and sons : Arnold (1962),Siegfried (1975), Werner (1975), Arno ( 1981), Edward (1988).  Also parents, Emma/Jakob Eichhorst, sister Magdelene, brother Walter.

Surviving family includes: nieces, Marta, Erna (Doug), Great nieces Tiffany ( Joseph), Regan, Chantal ( Darren), Rachel , Great nephew William (Carla), and her Great Great nieces Olivia, Autumn, Great Great nephews Logan ( Krista), Jaryd (Hailea) , Jakob.  Not to be outdone by her Great Great Great niece Raine.  Gerhard’s family Mervin, Natasha, Taylor, Joshua, Nicole.

Erna left behind a large family even though her immediate family left her first. Her life began fleeing from the Communists from before birth. She lived in terror most of her childhood fleeing and surviving.  She witnessed the abduction and incarceration of her Papa by The Communists during The Great Terror and this proved to be a pivotal moment that affected the rest of her life. Children from WWII only survived their traumas, never healing from them.    After the war ended, from Germany, her mother Emma took her three young children on the Monarch Charlton to Paraguay in 1948 to start a new life.  Erna earned her Nursing Degree in Chaco and she soon met Aron, married and started a family. Erna was an example of grace in the years that followed.  Her 5 sons had accidents and illness resulting in each of their deaths over a span of 25 years.  Through each cruel twist her life took, Erna remained steadfast in her faith. She leaned completely into it. With that spiritual fortification she led an exemplary life of service to God. She studied scripture enthusiastically until weeks before her passing.  Her greatest joys included her Mission work starting with returning to Germany, Mexico, Africa and visiting many other countries over the years.  Traveling was one of her greatest loves as she was always in search of sunshine on her face. Traveling and giving her testimony were really the highlights in her life. Erna and Gerhard enjoyed their RV as often as possible rain or shine.  Erna continued to volunteer at the MCC  up until her death continuing her need to serve.  Among her many talents we the family really appreciated her baking! The best a kid could hope for and her quest to always learn something new.  We all know Erna is now at peace and reunited with her ‘boys’ in heaven.  A Memorial is to take place January 9/22 at King Road Church, details to follow based on current guidelines for gatherings.

Rest easy Sunshine, your job on earth is done. You were loved and will be missed.

The family would like to thank all the nurses of 3rd floor Overflow and to Daniel/Social Worker.

Tante Erna,
You taught me to always live with conviction. To work hard and to be of service. Your sacrifice in your immigration to Canada created an opportunity for me and my daughter “Autumm Erna Stiles” to live a life of freedom. I will never forget that, and I will live to be the highest potential that I can be in your honor.
Thank you for your kindness, your love, your hugs and your prayers.
Your the strongest woman I’ve even known.
May your spirit rest with God now.

I love you

From: Glenna Messer
Relation: Erna was a dear friend to our family.

Thinking of all of Erna’s family. Erna and I worked together at Kelowna. She was a wonderful person. We would do our shifts together then spend time after talking and praying. She was such a blessing to me and our family. She taught me a lot about Jesus. The last thing Erna said to me was God has all the details in his hands. See you in the air going up!!! Erna is with Jesus.
I loved Erna and will miss her.
