Evan Charles Peters

June 4, 1985 - February 20, 2026

Tribute

At 7:00 pm Friday, February 20, 2026 Evan Charles Peters, aged 40, passed away at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. He was born to LaVerne and Linda Peters on June 4, 1985 at the old MSA General Hospital.

Evan had a happy childhood filled with school, sports and a vibrant church life including singing in children's musicals, youth group… and many Sunday lunches at Boston Pizza. Summers included family camping trips all over the province as well as camping and wakeboarding at Cultus Lake with cousins and friends. Evan loved Keiza our big black fuzzy Keeshond. After high school he attended college and university where he played on the men’s volleyball  team. He loved to play the power position. He graduated with a computer science degree and was soon hired by CRA in Tech Support starting at the Sumas border.

He learned to play the drums on Rock Band which evolved into playing real drums in the worship team at church. Young adults from church formed a slow pitch team in which Evan pitched. His involvement in church included running sound and sitting on the elder board as the finance guy.

After Evan married Jess Hobson, MS began to impact his body. While Evan went through initial testing, he chose not to take any medicines offered by the medical system. The disease progressed rapidly, causing him to become a very difficult person to live with. Evan and Jess sadly found freedom in living apart. The years that followed were very hard for the family as they watched the disease take hold and saw him continue to refuse help.

In June of 2024, when taking care of himself became impossible, he finally came under care of Fraser Health who provided Care Aids 4 times a day and nurses regularly. He was soon completely bed ridden, and spent the past 20 months in bed working for CRA till the day he died. His heart had changed; he was loving, kind and always thankful for all that was done for him. We will miss him deeply.

He is survived by his father LaVerne, mother Linda, sister Alida, sister Delayne, brother-in-law Tyson, brother-in-law Jeremy. He was uncle to Ethan, Joey, Makenzie, Zoey and Griffin.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday the 2 nd of March at Northview Community Church. The livestream will start at 12:45 PM and will be available on the church’s website https://northview.org/memorial/.
