From: John van Dongen
Relation: Friend

My family and I had the privilege of living next door to Frieda and Ed for nine years. For us it was one of life’s great blessings to have Frieda as a neighbour and a friend. She was humble, kind, loving and had a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed hosting regular gatherings of family and friends in her meticulous home. Frieda was an extraordinary gardener who had some of the most beautiful flowers, gardens and greenery in the city and I know that at least one year she was officially honored for it. There were times when I got up at 5 am to go somewhere and she was already outside on a summer morning watering her colorful flowers that graced the piece of dirt between our driveway and her and Ed’s driveway. Starting my day with a brief but meaningful conversation with Frieda was always a special treat whenever it happened. Our sincerest condolences to Frieda’s family but especially to her loving husband Ed.
