Tribute
On Sunday, April 29, 2018, Geertje (Gé) Huberts passed away peacefully while a resident at Menno Home.
Berend, Gé’s much loved husband, passed away only a short six weeks ago, on Sunday, March 18, 2018. Gé was also was predeceased by her daughter Doreen on March 23, 1968, her grandson Jason, April 15, 2012, her sisters Dien and Jantje and her brother Albert.
Gé is survived by her children, John (Elsa), Al (Louise), Wilma (Gerrard), Don (Betty-Ann), Rob (Lori), many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters Antje, Grietje, Harma, Ronnie, her brother Tjeerd in the Netherlands and her sister Lies (Art) in Oyama, BC.
Gé was born in Roden, Drente, Netherlands on May 25th, 1930 and married Berend Huberts on July 2, 1952. The following year they immigrated to Canada, arriving at Pier 21 in Halifax and then travelled on by train to British Columbia.
Gé was a talented seamstress. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and completing stitchery projects. Gé was patient and practical. Her talents were often required in the family businesses and she still found time to focus on her own skills and interests and spend time with friends and family.
Please join the family as they gather for a Memorial Service at the Menno Home Chapel at 32910 Brundige Avenue, Abbotsford on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 1:00 PM with a lunch reception to follow after the service.
The family would like to extend their many thanks to the Menno Home community for their devoted care of both Bert and Gé over these past few years.
Gé will always be remembered for her loving and devoted care of Dad and her family, her steadfast faith and her willingness to work hard. She is “Dearly Loved” and will be “Truly Missed”.
