Geraldo Redekopp
June 7, 1942 - December 27, 2021
Tribute
Geraldo Redekopp was born on June 7, 1942 in Curitiba, Brazil, the third child of Geraldo and Elizabeth Redekopp.
He is survived by his wife Liesbeth; his children Karl & Brenda and Tania; grandchildren Connor and Miranda; and sisters Maria, Erna, and Elza.
Gerd met Liesbeth in the Mennonite Church Boqueirao Youth Group. When he moved to Germany for work, they continued to write during the 4 years he was away. When he returned to Curitiba they began to date and less than one year later they were engaged. With one suitcase each (one with Gerd’s favorite records), they began their journey to Canada. On June 7, 1969 they were married at Sherbrooke Mennonite Church. In June 1970 their first child, Karl, was born. As always, Tania arrived late to the party – 5 years later.
Gerd was passionate about his opinions. He worked hard for many years to provide for his family. After retirement enjoyed spending his time watching hockey and soccer from around the world, and recently was learning the wonders of Google Earth and You Tube Music where he found all his favourite hits. Spending time with his grandchildren was so very precious to him.
Gerd passed away unexpectantly on December 27, 2021. He will always be remembered by his family.
In lieu of a memorial service, we have created this memory video for you to view from the safety of your homes.
