Gertrude (Gertie) Pool (Opden Dries)

Tribute
Gertie passed peacefully to be with her Lord on August 15, 2024, at the age of 88 years. She was born Dec 27, 1935, in Nyverdal Oversel, Netherlands to Dirk & Geertje Opden Dries. Gertie had eight brothers and one sister and was the youngest of the ten children, she was the last surviving member of her family.
The family immigrated from the Netherlands to Alberta, Canada in 1948. She met her husband John Pool and they were married September 21, 1961. They were blessed with two daughters and one son. The family moved from Alberta to Ontario and finally made their home in Matsqui, BC in 1970.
Her faith in her Lord remained strong and she never complained throughout the numerous health trials and was a Breast Cancer Survivor. During the past few weeks, Gertie was well taken care of by the staff at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and the family thanks them for their compassion and dedication.
Gertie is survived by her husband, John Pool, daughters Gail (Frank) Tolsma, Cindy (Allen) Kampman and son John (June) Pool as well as 15 Grandchildren and 28 ½ Great Grandchildren.
She will be missed by all.
