Tribute

Grace Elaine Paquette passed away peacefully with family at her side on August 13, 2026 at the age of 92.  She was pre-deceased by her husband, Don Leonard Paquette, her parents, Lloyd and Dorothy Wright, her sister Norma and her brother Jerry.

Grace leaves behind her children, Darryl (Linda, Megan and Julia), Wendy, grandsons, Bryce (Melissa), Jerrdon (Kristal) and Mitchell, great-grandchildren, Robert, Genevieve, Cohan, Rylee and Cali, her sister Norma’s children Heather, Stephen, Beth and Lisa, her husband Don’s sisters Mary and Betty.

Grace was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. The family moved to Glacier National Park where her father Lloyd worked as a telegraph operator for the railway. There were no roads in the area at that time so hiking into the mountains and skiing down was a favourite activity. A trophy for downhill skiing was one of her prized mementos.

It was in Creston that Grace met the love of her life, Don, and they married on November 19th, 1955.  They would move 6 times due to Don’s career with the RCMP, eventually settling in Abbotsford, where she worked at Yale Secondary School and later, the old Abbotsford Hospital until she retired.

Mom loved spending time with family and friends, baking her famous oatmeal cookies and tending to her flower garden. She also enjoyed camping, skiing well into her 50’s and cats and dogs.

There is no funeral service at Grace‘s request, and her ashes will be laid with her husband, Don at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving a donation to Alzheimer’s Society of BC.
