Tribute
Born February 16, 1929, passed away November 13, 2022 at the age of 93 years. He is survived by his son Robert (Jacqueline), granddaughter Anya, grandson Mathew (Katie), and great granddaughter Zariyah. Hans was predeceased by his wife Erika in 2008. He was born in Germany, immigrated to Canada, travelled across Canada, working at various jobs. In the 1950’s Hans settled in BC and began a very successful career in the coastal logging industry, retiring in 1993. Hans will be fondly remembered by his family, colleagues and many friends, all of whom will agree that he was a man who did it his way. A celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2023 in The Clubhouse at 1450 McCallum Road, Abbotsford.

Met Hans in 1955 in Aero Camp in Q.C.Is and we met again in Juskatla in the 1950’s where we played card games with Erika. Lost contact after 1970.

Robert, I’m sorry to read about your dad’s death. He was a special person in my life.
I met Hans in Terrace around 1967 when we were both employed by Columbia Cellulose (Twin River Timber). He was a logging manager and I was a green young forest engineer.
I am forever grateful for the attention and kind mentoring he gave to me. Hans was a world class mentor!
Hans and I met and crossed paths again in the 1980s and 1990s at Interfor. He became an Area Logging Manager and in these years he reported directly to me. He was a wonderful support to me in his outstanding performance as a mentor for young people at Interfor.
Many many future stars at Interfor were mentored by Hans.
He will be remembered by many people, myself included.
