Tribute

Harvey was born in Viking, Alberta.  After his service with the army and at the end of the war, he moved to BC.  For well over 35 years Harvey served as a supercargo at the Port of Vancouver and worked many large companies including his last service with Weyerhaeuser.  He was well respected by his superiors and had great relationships with many of the longshoremen and staff at the Port.  Harvey`s real passion though, was the outdoors and his love for fishing, hunting and the protection of the wetlands of Delta and Surrey.  He spent many days there walking the dikes with his dogs and taking his boat out into the waters of the Georgia Strait.  Harvey was also an avid gardener and looked forward to replanting his garden every spring in Surrey.  Harvey passed away peacefully December 24 at Surrey Memorial Hospital and is survived by his daughters Carolyn (Luke Alberts) and Jill (Alex Oosthoek); sons John and Ben Ford (Jen); grandchildren John, Joel, Emily and Paul Alberts; Hailey and Jenna Oosthoek; and Emma, Eryn, Megan and Lily Ford. There will be no service, but a donation to Ducks Unlimited in Harvey`s memory would be appreciated.
