Tribute
Tuesday morning Helen passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Saviour. She was a resident at the “Trillium” home on Bevan Avenue in Abbotsford for the last 7 years. Helen was an only child and she never married. She leaves several cousins behind and some friends. Helen looked after her parents for many years and she had a career with the Royal Bank of Canada for 42 years. Her graveside service will be held Monday, August 29 at 10 a.m. at Hazelwood Cemetery.

My sincere condolences on the passing of “aunt Helen” who was our lifelong family friend, as was her mother, Pearl. I have many happy childhood memories of visiting aunt Helen and Mrs. Itcush at their home, and watching TV with them, as they had a colour TV and we did not. They supplied us with plums and cherries, and my dad would climb up and pick them for the family. I admired aunt Helen for being a career woman who travelled with friends to Hawaii and California, and who wore lipstick, which was the height of sophistication to my thinking. She bought my brother and I toy cash registers for Christmas one year, so we played bank together. She was a special woman and a good friend.
