Henry Henry Wiebe

October 19, 1931 - February 28, 2022

Tribute

Henry passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital in the presence of his wife and children on the afternoon of February 28th at the age of 90.

Henry was born on October 19, 1931 in Superb, Saskatchewan. He lived in Morden, Manitoba from the age of 2 through 12, when his family moved to Arnold, B.C.

Henry met and fell in love with Elvira Peters and they were married on April 1st, 1951.

Henry worked for B.C. Tel for 17 years as a Toll Technician, but his heart and passion were always to serve the Lord through the church, where he was always involved in some form of ministry, first with Arnold M.B. Church and then from 1965, with Central Heights M.B. Church in Abbotsford.

In 1975, Henry left B.C. Tel to attend Regent College in Vancouver. He then accepted the position of Director and Administrator of Columbia Bible Camp (now known as Camp Stillwood) near Cultus Lake. After four years at C.B.C., Henry joined Central Heights Church staff as Associate Pastor of Christian Education and Missions and later of Adult Ministries where he remained until 1988 when he became the senior pastor of Kennedy Heights M.B. in North Delta. It was during this period that Henry also completed a Masters of Ministries degree program through Trinity Western University. He was the first graduate as a Master’s student in Trinity’s ACTS program.

In 1992, Henry and Elvira moved back to Abbotsford, where Henry re-joined the staff of Central Heights part-time as Associate Pastor of Missions and Seniors, then later, Pastor of Administration until his retirement in June, 1998. Henry continued teaching adult Sunday School classes for many years into his retirement.

Henry enjoyed woodworking, reading, photography and travel, and visited 26 countries, 9 provinces and 47 states.

Henry is predeceased by his eldest daughter, Elvie Wiebe, who succumbed to ALS in June, 2012. He is survived by Elvira, his loving wife of over 70 years, children Anne (Gerald) Dueck, Kathi (Erv) Klassen, Ellie (Andy) Woodland, Larry Wiebe and Bonnie (Dan) Hughes, as well as 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.  Henry will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

A celebration of Henry’s life will be held at Central Heights M.B. Church on Friday, March 11th at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.  For those who cannot attend in person, the service will be livestreamed and can be watched live or at a later date at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0FqwN1JirE&authuser=0
