It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Herb Wiebe from Abbotsford, B.C. He went to be with his Lord andSavior after a difficult struggle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family at the Mission Hospital Hospice Unit. Herb was born on January 18, 1934 to Jacob & Agatha Wiebe in Turtle Mountain, Manitoba, and grew up with his three brothers, John, Bill and Jack. They moved to Abbotsford in 1947. He married his sweetheart, Judy Hiebert, on June 27, 1959.

Herb graduated from M.E.I. followed by working with MCC in Germany. Upon returning to B.C., he continued his education at UBC and graduated in Civil Engineering. After a few years, Herb decided he did not enjoy working in an office and preferred to be outdoors, working as his own boss in construction and property development.

In the years to come, Herb and Judy welcomed their three daughters, Colleen, Patricia and Alison. The family started in Vancouver and moved to Aldergrove and then on to Abbotsford.

Over the years, Herb was an avid golfer, reader and traveller. Coming from a musical family, he also had a love for music and enjoyed attending concerts and performances. Herb and Judy loved going on vacations and camping trips with their young family. Later on, many of their trips involved missionary service. Spending time with their grandkids and watching their activities was something Herb always loved.

Herb is survived by his wife, Judy Wiebe, his three daughters, Colleen Redekop (Chuck Fiehn), Trish (Bill) Ratzlaff, and Alison (Ken) Scott, his ten grandchildren, Carmen (Derrick), Nicole (Andrew), Jennifer (Garrett), Marissa (Lance), Tyson (Olivia), Trenton (Jessica), Tessa (Josiah), Regan (Michael), Matthew (Anna) and Peyton, and his ten great grandchildren. Herb was predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Agatha Wiebe, and his three brothers, John, Bill and Jack.

A special thank you to the loving and caring staff at the Mission Hospital Hospice Unit.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Herb’s name to The Gideons International organization.
