Tribute

Hilda passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 17, 2022.  She was born in the Ukraine on January 24,1935.  She and her family immigrated to Canada in 1947 to Yarrow, BC.  Hilda lived there for 45 years, marrying John Guenther in 1973. They moved to Abbotsford in 1992. As a young woman, she worked as a registered practical nurse at Chilliwack Hospital.

She had a passion for the Lord and the lost and was very involved in many ministries. Both she and John were strong supporters of church, missions and other Christian projects.

On the Guenther side, she was predeceased by John in 1998 and stepson Elmer Guenther in 2022 and is survived by stepdaughters Pauline Harms and Jean Guenther as well as Martha Guenther, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. On the Neufeld side, she was predeceased by her brother Henry Neufeld and her sister Elizabeth Krause (Henry); and is survived by her nephews Peter Krause and Harvey Krause (Suzie) and their children, nieces Linda Klassen ( Rod) and their children, and Lorraine Neufeld.

Hilda had a great zest for life.  She loved and excelled at entertaining, gardening, singing in the choir, and bringing buns and lovely baked things when asked to dinner.  She was also tirelessly devoted to her loved ones.  She nursed her mother faithfully in her last months, and when her husband John had major health issues, he lived to tell the tale only because of her tenacious care.  In spite of many health problems herself, she continued to help others wherever she could.

A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, July 26th at 1:00 p.m. at Garden Park Towers, 2825 Clearbrook Rd. Abbotsford.  The service will be livestreamed at https://youtu.be/it8bFpHPXzk
