Hilde Krause passed away at Menno Hospital, Abbotsford, BC, on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Predeceased by Eldon Harold Krause her husband of 59 years, her son Richard Allen Krause, her parents Jacob and Cornelia Koslowsky, her siblings Kathe, Theodore and Frieda, she is mourned and lovingly remembered by her two daughters: Jane Ellen Grunau (Gerry) and their family Brenda Grunau, Brian Grunau (Miriam Schellenberg) and children Oliver and Annika, Darren Grunau (Corinne Klassen) and children Llewyn and Alex; daughter Catherine McPhail (John) and their daughters Gillian Sokul and  Kendra Woiden (Trevor) and daughter Addison; and daughter-in-law Diane Krause and family Kathleen Krause (John Storey-Bishoff) and children Rebecca and Thomas, and David Krause (Irene Chan) and children Emily, Vivian and Alisha. She is also mourned by numerous nephews and nieces. Hilde Krause was born on May 4, 1923, in Hochfeld, Ukraine, the eldest child of Jacob M. and Cornelia Koslowsky. Following the death of her father in 1937, and amid the turmoil of World War Two, Hilde, her mother and three siblings fled Hochfeld in 1943 and arduously made their way to Canada, arriving in June of 1948. Guided by an unshakable faith in God and an admirable work ethic, Hilde created a new and satisfying life in Canada. She and Eldon Krause married on April 8, 1951. They lived, worked and made lifelong friends in Calgary, Claresholm, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Rosthern, Saskatoon and Abbotsford. A family graveside service has been planned.   A virtual Celebration of Life will take place at a future date. Memorial donations can be made to Mennonite Disaster Service ( https://mds.mennonite.net/donate/ ).

From: Carl & Elaine Goosen
Relation: Working with Eldon and Hilde at Fraser Valley Gleaners

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Krause family. We have wonderful memories of Eldon and Hilde at Fraser Valley Gleaners – volunteering. They were good friends to us here. In the past years, we often received a card or phone call from Hilde expressing joy, encouragement and prayer. We would have to give progress reports of the Gleaners – what we were working on and where our latest shipment went to. She always asked about our family so she could pray for us.

From: Ingrid Koslowsky and Jack Sandford
Relation: Aunt on my father's side

It was with mixed emotions that I watched the internment service today. She was ‘my Tante Hilde’ and it is always sad to lose a ‘Tante’.
However, I have great memories of our visit to the Krause farm in Ottawa as a little girl, as well as coming to their home in Rosthern and Saskatoon with my parents. It was always a pleasure and entertaining time to visit with Tante Hilde and Onkel Eldon. Wonderful memories!
