Tribute

Janice Elaine Redekopp passed away peacefully at Menno Hospital in Abbotsford, BC on 8 May 2022.

Janice is predeceased by her parents, Dick and Nina Redekopp. Left to cherish her memory are her siblings and their families, Esther, Raoul and Takara Odendaal, Camille, Richard, Norman and Sean Spencer, and Howard Redekopp and his wife Gayle Kosh. She is lovingly remembered by friends and extended family in many countries as well as staff at Menno Hospital.

Janice was born on 23 December 1967 in Johannesburg, South Africa. She graduated from Rift Valley Academy in Kenya in 1985 and proudly graduated from UBC with a BA in Social Sciences in 1989.

Janice will forever be remembered for her vivacity, her impish sense of humour, her curious and adventurous spirit, her courage, her tenacity, and her gorgeous copper curls. She was a loyal friend who encouraged and motivated, inspired and uplifted many people of diverse ethnicity and culture.

In December of 1991,at the young age of 24, Janice suffered a massive infection and complications led her to become the youngest and longest resident at Menno Hospital where she continued to shine her special light.

There will be a quiet interment at noon on 9 June 2022 where her siblings will lovingly lay the body that limited her to rest. Her beautiful spirit is free at last.

Wiebe and Jeske Funeral Home Staff send our condolences to family and friends.

From: Marilyn (Gifford) Barr
Relation: Our parents served together in AEF in Zambia. I knew Dick and Nina here in Abbotsford also. Also my own children attended Rift Valley Academy although several years after Janice.

I pray that all Janice’s family will know and experience the comfort of our Heavenly Father at this time. She is rejoicing with Dick and Nina and Jesus! But will leave a hole in your hearts!

From: Mary Watson

Dear Esther, Camille, and Howard –

My thoughts and prayers have been with each of in these recent days, as Anne Noble’s SIM information reached us of you dear sibling, Janice’s passing. What a lovely tribute was written about Janice.
It captures her delightful, vibrant, beautiful personality. I have very clear memories of Janice, on that day when she and your Mother, Nina, made the decision to have one more night together before
Janice’s being taken to the Hospital. And then one of the “unanswerables” we children of God have to trust and and believe, that He is in the midst with us. Your Mom and Dad remained totally committed
to bringing love and caring and joy into Janice’s life every day – AND – never complained.
And Janice remained sweet and bright and learned how to respond. You have had a deep and hurting double loss and only Abba Himself knows how to minister to each of you, as you process your feelings.
With my love and precious memories of each of you, M.K.s – “Auntie” Mary Watson. 💕🎶🙏🏼

Relation: Our family and yours were missionaries together in Roodepoort, S. Africa w/AEF.

Hello, Dear Friends,
I pray that you may know the comfort which only the Lord Jesus can give. May His grace and peace surround you.
In Christ,
Dorothy

Relation: Serve with SIM Canada in the home office

I remember Anne N (Retiree Care Co-ordinator for SIM Canada) showing us pictures of one of her trips out west to visit our Retirees. One was a picture of your sister, as Anne spoke of visiting your folks. I marveled then at God’s unfathomability, what He askes of His children sometimes. Your parents’ care of your sister is a sweet savor to the LORD. I will look forward to meeting them and Janice in eternity with Jesus. May the LORD comfort you all!
