Jim Tempel
August 18, 1950 - August 10, 2017
Tribute
Klaas “Jim” Tempel was born on August 18, 1950 in Groningen, Netherlands. He passed unexpectedly but peacefully with his loved ones by his side on August 10, 2017. Jim was predeceased by his mother and father, Harmanna and Gerrit Tempel, his niece Julie Ridder, and brother-in-law John Ridder.
Jim immigrated to Dawson Creek, B.C. with his family as a young child and later settled on dairy farm in Matsqui, BC. Eventually taking over the farm, he raised his own family and became involved in the community as a volunteer firefighter for the Matsqui Village Fire Hall (No. 4). Jim was an avid hockey enthusiast, once playing goalie for the Faber Flyers as a young adult and watching Hockey Night in Canada every Saturday night with his kids. He enjoyed spending time with his family, riding his Harley with his friends and sharing a good laugh over a drink with his neighbours.
Jim is survived by his long-time love, Joanne Langelaar, who he spoke so highly of to those that knew him. He is also survived by his four beloved sisters, Dixie (Roy) Jacobson, Kathy Ridder, Henny (Lowell) Saxbee, and Annalee (Rob) Phillips. His legacy lives on in his four children, Sheri (Shawn) Burkinshaw, Greg (Holly) Tempel, Brian (Jamie) Tempel and Darren (Blaire) Tempel, in addition to his nine grandchildren. The immense adoration and pride he had for his children and grandchildren was felt by all that knew him, and his sentimental soul lives on in the memories he shared with each of his family members and friends.
Please join us in sharing any memories and sentiments with the family and friends on Wiebe & Jeske’s Funeral Services website at www.wiebeandjeskefh.com. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Sunday, August 27th between 3:00pm and 5:00pm at the Matsqui Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Abbotsford Fighters Burn Fund.

So sad to read about Jim’s passing. You are all in our thoughts and in our prayers. It has been some time since we last saw Jim but have fond memories of him. It was Jim who got Tom into volunteering for the fire hall. In the past we spent some great times with him. We are sad that we cannot make the celebration of life with the family as we will be out of tow, but wanted to send our best wishes to all of you! He will be missed Dearly!
