Jodi Ann Wiens (Cave)

June 13, 1973 - September 28, 2017

Tribute

Jodi passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre after a short eight-month battle with brain cancer.

Jodi was born in Whitehorse, Yukon. After four years in the Yukon, she spent the rest of her early childhood in Victoria and Prince Rupert, B.C. where she began her practice of making lifelong friends.  In 1983, she moved to Abbotsford with her parents and brother Scott.  Jodi attended Clearbrook Elementary, Clearbrook Junior, and W.J. Mouat.  After high school graduation, she went on to earn an accounting diploma at the University College of the Fraser Valley, a diploma she later put to effective use in the family business.  Being from an aviation family, she was involved in the Abbotsford Airshow from an early age and, for a few years, worked at Airshow Canada.  During the 1991 show, she met a handsome young electrician named Ernie.

Ernie and Jodi were married in 1995 and they soon became a family of four with the births of Caitlin and Josh. Family has always been the centre of Jodi and Ernie’s universe so she became very involved in their school lives as well as dance, hockey, and baseball.  She loved to vacation with family and friends wherever there was an ocean and a beach; she always seemed to be planning the next excursion and inviting others to join in.

Jodi is survived by husband Ernie, children Caitlin and Josh, parents Val and Wayne Cave, brother Scott Cave, sister-in-law Heidi Cave, mother-in-law Leni Wiens, brothers and sisters-in-law Rudy and Cheryl Wiens, Erv and Jeanette Wiens, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 6th, 2017 at Mt. Lehman Cemetery located at 29745 Taylor Road.  Unfortunately, parking is quite limited.

At 1:00 p.m., there will be a service and a celebration of Jodi’s life at the Heritage Alliance Church, 3440 Mt. Lehman Road. In recognition of her love of the beach and ocean, flip flops as footwear are encouraged.  She would love to see you involved.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Matthew’s House in Abbotsford, B.C.

Ernie, Caitlin and Josh…we are so sorry for your loss! We pray you find peace and comfort during this very difficult time! Jodi was thoughtful, kind and non judgmental! We have many fond memories of our time at King, running the police run together, our trip to Las Vegas and visits over dinner and wine! What will always stand out the most is how she glowed when she talked about Caitlin and Josh, she was so proud! May she rest in peace ❤️

From: Charlene and Paul Fontaine
Relation: I worked with Jodi during four Airshow Canada tradeshows

Ernie and Family,
So sorry to hear of your loss. I can hear Jodi’s laughter and see her smile. She was always positive and whenever we would see each other, although not often, she would always take the time to say hi and get caught up on how everyone was doing. Jodi was a wonderful person. She will be missed deeply by all those that had the opportunity of being part of her life.
