Johann (John) Harold Reimer
January 11, 1935 - October 11, 2024
Tribute
It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the passing of Johann Harold Reimer (John) on October 11, 2024 at 8:09 am. His beloved wife Viola Theresa Reimer predeceased him on February 26, 2020.
He was born in Ukraine on January 11, 1935 to Peter John Reimer and Anna Elizabeth Reimer (Braun). In 1943 the family managed to flee the advancing Russian army from Ukraine to Germany. Several years later they emigrated to Canada. They made Abbotsford their home ever since.
John lived a good life . He found happiness with his wife Viola of 40 years. When she passed 4 years ago his will to move forward without her was severely tested. In 2015 his son Richard passed away. Even though they lived apart, the loss was devastating.
Dad enjoyed watching soccer and hockey and playing when he was a younger man. He liked sharing the trials and tribulations of the Vancouver Canucks with his brother Peter. Dad liked riding his motorcycle. He was proud of his bike and enjoyed taking his grandsons for rides to Hope for a burger. Dad also made sure he called each of us siblings on Sundays. That’s what he enjoyed. He was just checking on us.
Dad was a very loving, caring and understanding man. He was everybody’s hero. He was the “Best Dad Ever” to all of us.
John leaves behind his daughter Linda (son-in-law Gerald), son Steven, son James (daughter-in-law Margaret); 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He will be truly missed. As well, his siblings Frank (Anne), Bill (Ruth) and Annie and their families will miss him.
Besides his wife and son, John is predeceased by his oldest brother Peter (Gisela); brother-in-law Adolph and sister-in-law Erna.
Rest in peace. We all loved you. You are going to be truly missed by all of us. Until we meet again.

Thank you for making my dad (Peter) laugh whenever you called to say “Where are the girls playing!” using his funny melodic voice. Of course we are talking Soccer! Dad loved all your calls which were most days until Vi passed away. We love you and will miss your jokes and funny voices. Much love Ruth + Jim

I have a few Uncles and I am fond of them and for the Uncles that are deceased have been fond. I was fond of Uncle John because he was always friendly and seemed okay to speak what he thought. I have a memory of him and another family member driving together to a lake and also how he took care of his Mother. Condolences to the family.
