John Pickering Alexander
March 19, 1926 - December 16, 2018
Tribute
To many, Jack Alexander was known as ‘quite the character.’ Blessed with a quick wit, he was always ready with a joke, regularly delivered with a wink and a smile. However, to all those who truly knew him, he was also a generous, thoughtful and creative soul. Jack was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Ontario. He joined the RCAF at the age of 18, but missed his chance to serve in WWII. He filled his life with the things he loved: dancing (to his impressive record collection), fishing, traveling, playing cards and was especially proud of the home he built himself in Coral Beach. Along the way Jack became a top salesman for National Cash Register, with his integrity recognized by clients across BC. He retired to Abbotsford and Chilliwack to golf (and rescue lost golf balls) before settling in to senior living at Chelsea Park in Vancouver. Jack and Margaret Alexander [1952-1966] had three children: daughters Nancy [Phil Clark] and Sue [Leo McIntryre] and son Jeff. He passed away peacefully, after hugs and goodbyes from all of them. Jack was predeceased by his parents, Lyall and Mary Alexander [Madeira Park] and brothers Ted and Art. He is survived by his sister Marylou Pasquolatto, and nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly remembered by four grandchildren: Jessica, Patrick [Megan], Kaitlin and Matthew Troy as well as several great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
