John Charles Keefer
May 31, 1941 - August 6, 2017
Tribute
With great sadness, we announce that we have lost our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. John passed away on Sunday, August 6th at the age of 76.
He was born and raised on the family farm in Chilliwack, B.C. and lived in this area all his life. He farmed most of his adult life and was a part of many people’s lives. Dad was always quick with a joke, a laugh and a helping hand! Let plowing and corn rows always be straight!
John leaves behind the love of his life, wife of 53 years, Betty (Jansen), his children: Kim (Rob) Karr – grandchildren Anthony, Kaitlyn, Janessa and Lauren; Stan (Karen) Keefer – grandchildren Travis, Tara (Will) de Rover and great grandson, Gage; Mike (Bonnie) Keefer – grandchildren Cole, Ashley and Brooke. His sisters: Marlene Williams and Dorothy (Fred) Baxter.
He also leaves behind Betty’s brothers and sisters: Eva Klop, Casey and Betty Jansen, Tanny and Bill Vermeer, Brian and Darlyne Jansen, Pauline and Henk Visscher, John and Wilma Jansen, Henry and Jenny Jansen, Hannah and Bert Brunia and his many nieces and nephews on both sides.
He will be greatly missed by all his family, friends and acquaintances.
Thanks to the many people that looked after dad, from the paramedics, firefighters, doctors and nurses at Royal Columbian Hospital, Chilliwack Hospital and Abbotsford Hospital. A special thank you to the nurses of Abbotsford ICU, the care you gave dad was spectacular, the kindness and care was greatly appreciated! Viewing will take place Thursday, August 17 between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Netherlands Reformed Congregation Church, 8920 Broadway St., Chilliwack, where the funeral service will be held Friday, August 18 at 1 p.m. Pastor J. Greendyk will officiate. A reception will follow in the church hall following the interment.
