Kevin Quilty

August 15, 1927 - February 7, 2014

Tribute

Kevin Joseph Quilty went home to be with our Lord Jesus on Friday, February 7, 2014 at the age of 86.

Kevin is predeceased by the love of his life, Geraldine Esperanza, daughters Donna Mussell, and Doreen Storey, grandsons Sean Quilty, and Dallas Daleen, and 12 siblings.

Kevin is lovingly remembered by daughters Kathy Beauchamp (Rod) of Chilliwack, BC, Rita Cawthra (Bill) of Ladysmith, BC  and sons Kevin Quilty Jr. (Carolyn) of Hinton, Alberta, and Donnie Marcher (Delores) of Burnaby, BC, and brothers John Quilty (Sylvia), Harold Quilty both of Burnaby, BC, many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Kevin was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland and as a young boy started working on the docks. His love for the sea continued as he worked on various ships as a merchant marine through WWII and after as a longshoreman, and a deckhand on freighter ships. In later years he spent his time living between the Lower Mainland and Salton Sea, California before settling in Chilliwack, BC.

Kevin loved to sing and he had a beautiful voice. He loved to laugh and be around people. Kevin would always lend a helping hand. He worked hard, played hard and never backed down from a challenge. He was a tough old newfie! Kevin will be missed so very much!

We would like to thank all the staff at Cascade Lodge, especially the 4th floor staff, for taking such good care of Kevin.

Family viewing only to be held on Saturday, February 15th, 1 to 2pm at Wiebe & Jeske, Abbotsford, BC. As per Kevin’s request no service to follow.

I had the privilege of meeting Uncle Kevin only one time, he was in St. John’s , NFLD for some reason or other, I was just a child but I remember my father ( Patrick Gordon Quilty ) was so happy, proud and impressed to have him in our home as it was also his childhood home. The merriment began and soon after he began referring to me as Chubby Checker. He is now finally home . Rest In Peace Uncle Kevin.

From: Ella Quilty

I had the occasion to meet Kevin many yrs.ago when he came to visit us in St.John’s NL. and again 8 yrs.ago, he visited with Donna and Cathy.
