Kurt Kratzer
April 24, 1935 - August 25, 2016
Tribute
Our hearts are heavy as we announce the sudden passing of Kurt Heinz Kratzer from our lives on August 25, 2016. Kurt was born in Naumberg, Germany on April 24, 1935. After many hardships during WWll, his family immigrated to Canada when he was 17 years old and homesteaded in Valleyview, Alberta. As a young man he apprenticed to become an auto body mechanic and later moved to Vancouver, BC. There he met the love of his life, Ella Buchwitz, and they married 1967. The couple settled in Chilliwack, BC and had two daughters.
Kurt is survived by Ella, his wife of 49 years, his daughters Rose and Diane, their husbands Jon Boyd and Stuart Morris and his six grandchildren, Nigel, Madeline, Sophie, Aidan, Nolan and Ethan.
Kurt was a hard working, generous, and kind husband, father and Opa. He was very involved with his church and always had time to chat or give someone a helping hand. We will miss him immensely but we know this isn't the end and that one day we will be together again…
A Celebration of Life service will be held at CityLife Church, 46641 Chilliwack Central Rd. on Saturday, September 10th at 2 pm. Reception to follow immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Cyrus Centre via CityLife Church.

My condolence to the Kratzer Buchwitz families …. I remember Kurt from a long time ago … he did a repair on my first car, I was just learning to drive and I hit the Vedder Bridge. He was a good man. Ken

My heart breaks for you Auntie Ella, Rose and Diane and your families. I know your faith will provide you with strength and support from your congregation but still you will miss your dear husband and father until you are able to see him again, as Jesus our Lord said at John 11:25. Until then, I hope you can take comfort in knowing how much Uncle Kurt was loved and respected by yourselves and others who knew him, and most importantly, by the name he made with God. All my love, thoughts and prayers to you all.
