Lloyd Edward Jackson

May 1, 1922 - November 24, 2018

Tribute

Lloyd Edward Jackson was born May 1, 1922 in Vancouver to Robert and Edith (Horn) Jackson.  He is also predeceased by two sisters (Doris and Delma).  At age 10 he came to faith in Jesus Christ.

After completing a business course, he was conscripted and joined the armed forces in 1942.  He ran the admission and discharge dept of a 1400 bed Hospital in England and led a Christian quartet that did evangelistic meetings and was broadcast by radio across Europe.

He graduated from Northwest Baptist Bible College in 1949 and served as Pastor of Cloverdale Baptist, where he married Agnes Wilkinson on September 12, 1952. In 1956 he became Pastor of Prince Rupert Fellowship Baptist giving care and leadership for 31 years. People were deeply influenced by his character and teaching, and he led many to a personal faith in God as a result. He was instrumental in starting several churches and mentoring many college students during his ministry.

In 1987 he retired to Surrey and then Abbotsford.  This phase of life gave him wonderful opportunities with grandchildren and ongoing volunteer ministry. Pastor J loved the Lord and was always known for his warmth, good humour, his stories, and his constant readiness to help others.

On Tues Nov 20th he suffered a stroke.  It is fitting that in his last day of consciousness, he sang as best he could, with his chaplain, “Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me home!”

He will be lovingly missed by Agnes, his wife of sixty-six years, two sons, Dave (Kathy) and Barry (Giselle), six grandchildren; Becky (Jessie), Ruth, Steven (Andrea), Sarah, Shana (Jon), Keri (Matt), and nine great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Lloyd’s life will be on Monday December 3, 11 am, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 2950 Blue Jay Street, Abbotsford, BC.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Immanuel Fellowship Baptist Church, in memory of Lloyd would be appreciated.
