Lynne Marie Jeannette Powlik (Bernier)

October 23, 1943 - September 27, 2021

Tribute

Peacefully on the afternoon of September 27, Lynne passed away at the age of 77. Lynne was a loving and caring woman who held family close to her heart. She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband of 54 years, Gerry; daughters Laura, Karen (Karl) and Sandy; sister Raye (Bill); sister-in-law Lorraine; three grandchildren Renée (Ryan), Dylan and Isabella; family and friends.

An active teacher (Gr. 7 French Immersion Blacklock Elementary), golfer, curler, gardener, knitter, volunteer (BC Golf Association 2011 Volunteer of the Year, Thrifter’s Paradise), CWL member, national certified golf referee, she was the life of the party and a friend to all. She was a beautiful soul filled with endless joy, love, generosity and kindness. She greeted everyone at any moment warmly and with a hug and a smile. Lynne will forever be a guiding light and source of love for us.

There will be a prayer service at 7pm on Tuesday, October 12 and a funeral mass at 10:30am on Wednesday, October 13 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church: 20676 Fraser Hwy, Langley, BC. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the reception following will be by invitation only. In lieu of flowers and gifts, please consider making a donation to the BC Lung Association (BC.lung.ca/donate) in memory of Lynne.

Gerry and family – it was with great sadness when we recently learned of Lynne’s passing. During our get togethers she always lit up the room – outgoing, funny, respectful and very kind! Without question, a lovely and special woman. Working side by side with Gerry I was constantly reminded of Lynne’s beautiful qualities. A true love story, indeed!
Gerry, our thoughts are with you and your wonderful family. Love, Don & Lynn.

Two of our daughters were fortunate enough to have Lynne as a French immersion teacher at Blacklock and we would often run into her at St Joseph’s and she always remembered them. They have fond memories of her. Our sincere condolences to Gerry and the family.

From: Iris Hadfield
Relation: I worked at Blacklock School with Lynne.

I remember Lynne as a kind, active, cheerful and generous person. We will miss her beautiful smile.

Hello Gerry, Sue, and I know this is much too late, but after getting the latest “Post Script”, we knew we had to contact you, and let you know how much we appreciated our time with yourself, Lynne. There are no words that can handle your loss, but in spite of that we do send our sincere condolences, no matter how belated they are.
