Margaret Verlene Britton

February 3, 1954 - May 14, 2020

Tribute

We are devastated to announce that our mother, Margaret Verlene Britton, passed away unexpectedly on May 14th at the young age of 66 (oops I mean 29, sorry mom!)

Verlene or Verp, as she was known to friends, had the biggest heart and showed it often. She opened her home to countless amounts of animals, children, and adults in need.  She had an exceptional bond with children, especially her grandchildren. Mostly because she refused to grow up, but also because she was an amazing listener and never judged. Many of her daughter’s friends would go to her for advice or help and she was always there for them. She helped raise their children and loved them unconditionally, as if they were her own. And they adored her.

Verlene was the favourite daughter of Vernon and Aileen Britton. Her father nicknamed her Punky as a child and her personality matched it. She always stood up and spoke out for what she believed in. She grew up mostly in Coquitlam but became a wanderer in her adult life, moving many times throughout the years. She was an avid reader and constantly had a book on the go. She had a vivacious personality and an amazing sense of humour.  She was an amazing friend, a confidant to many and most importantly to her, she was a mother. She treasured her children and grandchildren beyond words and embraced every moment with them. Her sarcasm and humour will live on in her daughter’s and grandson’s.

She is survived by her mother, Aileen Britton, her 3 daughters, Amber Logan (Rod), Tiffany Logan, and Charlene Lake (Colin), her grandsons Brendan and Ethan Siddall, her brothers Monty and Murray Britton and their families, Andre Dubois and many others that loved her as family.

Though her health was failing for years, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. She is now at peace and will struggle no more. At her request, there will be no service.

She will be missed immensely.
