Margaret Amelia Mary Dygala (Podburanny)

December 25, 1929 - March 9, 2022

Tribute

Margaret was born in Edmonton, AB to Peter and Mary Poburanny.  She peacefully passed away under the loving care of the staff at Menno Home, Abbotsford.  Margaret was predeceased her parents, her brothers Alec and Albert, her granddaughter Sarah Cathleen Dunleavy, her nephew Peter Renny and her beloved husband Peter Dygala.

After moving with her family to Saskatchewan when she was 12, she finished high school in Central Butte and went on to nurse tuberculosis patients at Ninette Sanitorium in Manitoba.  It was there she met the love of her life, Peter Dygala.

They lived happily in Winnipeg and Headingly, MB, until Peter retired as Deputy Minister of Motor Vehicles in 1980.  They chose to retire to Aldergrove, BC, until Peter passed in 1994.  Margaret became involved in a tole painting group and eventually taught classes in Langley and Abbotsford.

She continued her art once she relocated to Abbotsford, and also was a valued volunteer for the Palliative Care section of Abbotsford Regional Hospital.

In the past few years she enjoyed painting and gardening, as well as chatting with her wonderful neighbours who all looked out for each other.  Margaret was passionate about the welfare of animals, but was devastated when she lost her yellow lab Lucie about 10 years ago.

Margaret is survived by her loving daughter Roxana Reagon, her cherished grandchildren Elizabeth and Kieran Dunleavy, and her special niece Lois Renny.

As requested, there will be no service, but a celebration of her life will take place when the air is warm and the flowers are in bloom.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the BC SPCA, or the Abbotsford Regional Hospital Auxilliary.

My condolences to all of Margaret’s family. We met when she first moved to the Langley/Abbotsford area, with her beloved husband Peter. We painted together and had many great adventures at classes and conventions, making long time friends with many. Margaret was a wonderful painter, who always loved to have fun….I’ll never forget her giggle.
