Margaret Seabrook (Evans)
October 29, 1942 - December 7, 2022
Tribute
With saddened hearts we announce that Margaret Seabrook passed away on December 7, 2022. Margaret was surrounded by close family during her final days at The Cascades Hospice in Chilliwack. Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband Chris, her mother Miriam Vause, father Herbert Evans, stepfather Tomas Vause, sister Vera Holland, stepbrother Peter Vause and stepsister Elizabeth Wilgross. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Christina Seabrook Brown and Andrew Seabrook (Jaclyn), and grandchildren Shaun Brown, Allie Brown and Lindsey Barnetson (Stewart), Sister Dorothy (Mike), Step brother Michael and her sisters-in-law Sandra Seabrook Beggs and Gloria Vause. She will also be greatly missed by many other family members and good friends.
Born and schooled in England, Margaret came to Canada with her family when she was 15 years old. She spent 13 years in Winnipeg, where she met and married Chris and they had their two children. Margaret and Chris were happily married until his passing in 2015. In Winnipeg, Margaret worked at Great West Life, then Maple Leaf Mills, and she volunteered in the church. In 1970 the family relocated to BC, where Margaret volunteered for several organizations, including starting a cub pack, visiting seniors, and collecting for the Mother’s March. She worked at Norco, Taymor Industries, Whiteman Cabinets, Thomas Lindsey, and Cansulex. Margaret and Chris moved to Calgary when Cansulex relocated there. They both enjoyed the very different lifestyle in Calgary, and working on the Strathcona Gazette; learning a lot about Calgary in the process. Both missed their children and grandchildren however, so when given the opportunity to move back after two years, they returned to BC. Once again, Margaret got a job in the Sulphur industry at Petrosol. Together Margaret and Chris started their own company, Seabrook International, shipping Western Star Trucks around the globe. This was the job Margaret enjoyed most; as she was able to work alongside the love of her life.
Margaret was a kind and loving woman who made people smile and laugh with her infectious enthusiasm and her stories. She had a great life and loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, whom she would do anything for. She had a wonderful marriage of 54 years with Chris. They enjoyed travelling to many countries, including cruises with close family and good friends. They especially enjoyed Hawaii, where they had a condo on Maui for several years. After Chris passed Margaret moved to Wells Brooke where she made new friends and continued travelling, including several cruises, taking family along when she could. Margaret will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her family and all those who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held on March 25th at 2:00pm in Wells Brooke clubhouse, 45175 Wells Road, Chilliwack, BC. To follow it is Margaret’s wish for her friends and family to share light
refreshments and good memories.
