Marie passed into the presence of her Lord on July 10, 2026.

The deep sadness we feel for our loss is tempered by beautiful memories of Marie’s kind, loving, and selfless spirit.

Marie was born to Ralph and Mary Amyot in Winnipeg, Manitoba as the first of four siblings. She spent carefree childhood days in the park with her brother Rene, with only a sandwich for lunch and instructions to be back in time for dinner. She knew Ray loved music, and took him to the theatre to watch Elvis Presley’s Jailhouse rock. She taught her younger brothers to jive in their house on Morley Avenue, swinging Alan into the air!

Marie relocated with her mother and brothers to the family farm near St. Martin during the great Winnipeg flood of 1950.

Marie raised four boys, tirelessly putting meals on the table while keeping the house spotless and organized. She learned bookkeeping at Red River Community College and excelled at it. She worked a variety of jobs that included production operator at Kimberly-Clark, executive assistant at Automotive Trades, clerk at what was then Revenue Canada, and medical office receptionist.

In 1999, Marie and Ratko moved to British Columbia, eventually settling in Abbotsford.

Marie was an avid reader; she enjoyed gardening, sewing, riding her bike, and camping. There was always a sweater, blanket, or toque on her knitting needles. Her faith was central to her life, and she was involved in church activities and ministries.

Marie is lovingly remembered by her husband Ratomir “Ratko”, sons Drew (Colleen), Wayne (Shireen), Tim (Vanessa), and Mladen “Dan” (Sylvia), brothers Rene (Eva), Ray (Jill), and Alan (Margaret), and their families.
