Marlene moved to Langley, BC in the late 1990’s to be closer to her children with Peter (Bun) Romanowicz, her late husband (August 2007). She was a beloved mother and loved sharing her life with them. She was proud of all her children and always tried her best to support them. She was very kind to her family and friends always helping outwhen she could. Marlene was a warm-hearted, fun-loving lady with a great sense of humor and she always had a smile on her face. Marlene loved her red lipstick, she couldn’t go anywhere without it on. Being fashionable and charismatic, her hair and outfits also had to be perfect before leaving her place. Marlene loved to play the piano and sing along with friends and family. She will be missed by her friends Phyllis, Frances, Marsha, Janice and BC relatives; Howie (Sheila) Stephens, Brenda Mac Donald and Glenn (Annette) Tomblin. We want to give a special thank you to Dr. Borg and her office, Dr. Damien, nurses and the care aids where Marlene lived at Langley Gardens and Langley Seniors Village.

She also leaves behind many friends throughout Nova Scotia, Antigonish and Cape Breton Island. Colleen Snow, Warna Murrant, Nancy Manship, Kevin, Fred, Keith, Michele, Zion, John Stephens, Todd, Lynn Abbass, Janet Porter, Billy Sullivan, Eileen Mac Neil and too many to list. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  There will be no service, but interment of ashes will take place at a later date.

Marlene was a breath of fresh air … always friendly, open and positive. Deepest condolences to her family and friends. I know she’ll live forever in your hearts. I’ve uploaded a photo showing Marlene and her brother Earle (my dad) from 2018 (I think) and from their childhood in Nova Scotia.

From: Marie Black
Relation: Daughter-in-Law

Marlene was a wonderful mother-in-law and friend to me. She was a kind, caring and independent lady. When she and Bun moved to BC they stayed with us for a couple of months and introduced me to boiled dinner, a Cape Breton staple, and she would have dinner ready when I came home from work. The past five years Marlene overcame many medical challenges but could not beat Covid 19. Our many memories of you gives us comfort at this time.
