Tribute
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mennie DeJong. She passed away at the age of 93 with her family by her side. She was born in Hazerswoude, Holland, and immigrated to Canada with her groom Simon DeJong in 1954; settling first in Powell River, BC. Realizing their dream of owning a dairy farm they moved their young family to Marion Road in Sumas Prairie. Here they enjoyed 25 years of farming. Mom and Dad enjoyed many years travelling, enjoying the grandchildren and hosting many family dinners. She was a true matriarch of the family. Her positivity, strong work ethic and perseverance helped guide her throughout her life.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Margaret (Murray), Jerry (Brenda), Corinne (Bruce) , Glenn and her grandchildren, Leah, Kari (Luke), Amber (Max), Ryan, Colin (Adele) and six great grandchildren Harris, Mason, Jackson, Isabel , Ava, Cruz and her two sisters, brother and family in Holland. Special thanks to the caring staff at Bevan Lodge.
A funeral mass will be held Thursday, February 27,2020 at 10:00 am at St.Ann’s Church, 33333 Mayfair Ave. ,Abbotsford with reception to follow at the church.
