Michael Andrew Twiss

April 21, 1945 - July 28, 2025

Tribute

It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Andrew Twiss on July 28, 2025, at the age of 80. Michael was born in Vancouver, BC, on April 21, 1945, and lived a full and adventurous life surrounded by family and friends.

Michael is lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Virginia (“Ginny”), his daughter Ann-Michele Ewert (Steve), his grandchildren Chelsea Ewert and Connor Ewert (Tina), and his great-grandson Bowen Ewert. He is also survived by his brother Paul Twiss (Leslie), sister Deborah Luporini (Phil), nieces Andrea Kinnear (Mike) and Jessica Luporini, nephews Peter Twiss (Sandy), Darren Twiss (Janice), Andrew Palmer (Alyia), and Ben Luporini, great-nieces Brooklyn Twiss and Eleanor Twiss, great-nephew Castle, and cousins Heather Watson and Fern Southerland.

Michael spent his early years in North Vancouver and Trail before moving to Coquitlam, where he graduated from high school. He attended the University of British Columbia for two years before beginning his career at CP Air, where he worked for 25 years through its transformations into Canadian Airlines and finally Air Canada. After leaving the airlines, he continued his aviation career with MTU Maintenance for 15 years before retiring.

Michael and Ginny lived in Richmond for 36 years before moving to Ladner 10 years ago. Michael had a deep passion for travel, visiting more than 45 countries throughout his life. He enjoyed the outdoors, taking long walks and cycling until recent years. Over time, his interests included bowling, attending the theatre, visiting his beloved Galiano Island, and spending cherished days in Hawaii.

Michael faced significant health challenges in recent years with remarkable courage and a consistently positive outlook. His greatest joy was his family—especially being a grandfather—and he took every opportunity to create treasured memories with those he loved. Michael was a man of faith and found comfort in knowing that God was a presence in his life.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will take place at South Delta Baptist Church, Tsawwassen, on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Live streaming will be available. Burial will take place on Galiano Island, B.C. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Delta Hospital Foundation or the BC Cancer Foundation.
