Mildred Hirst

August 23, 1917 - December 18, 2012

Tribute

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Mildred (Millie) Hirst. Mildred was predeceased by her loving husband Victor and son Richard (Rick). She will be greatly missed by her daughters Eleanor and Susan; grandson Jason, wife Rosa, and their sons Cole and Ben; granddaughter Shannon; daughter-in-law Terry and grandchildren Tyler, Adam, Jordan, and Jenna; extended family Bob and Linda; brothers and sisters; nephews and nieces; and her many friends. Mildred was born in 1917 in Long Lake, Alberta and was the oldest daughter of 15 children (she had 5 sisters and 9 brothers). She moved to BC in 1950. Her early years involved a lot of struggle and hard work which she approached with strength and determination. Life became so much better when she married Vic in 1963 and he took wonderful care of her until he passed in 1987. She was a talented seamstress and wonderful baker. She had a great sense of adventure and was widely traveled. She loved getting together with family and friends, playing cards, gardening, and reading. She always had a happy smile and had a great sense of fun. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends but leaves a host of wonderful memories behind.  We love you Mom, Nana, Grandma, Gigi, Aunt Mildred, Millie, Mildred. A celebration of her life will be announced at a future date.
