Neil Hemming

January 15, 1951 - April 13, 2016

Tribute

Neil’s battle with ALS ended on April 13, 2016 and he has now gone home to be with his Lord and Savior.

Born in Rochdale, England, Neil moved to Ontario, Canada at the young age of 5.  In 1973 he married his high school sweetheart, Donna Dean and moved to Port Alberni, BC. He worked at the Paper Mill as a carpenter there for 33 years.  Neil leaves behind his wife, Donna, daughter Deana (Anders) and their children Arella and Evelyn, and daughter Leanne (Philip) and their children Landon and Jenaya.  Neil had a love for music, travelling, soaking up the sun and for his family.  He could often be found helping others with their home renovation projects or creating gifts in his workshop for his grandkids.  Through his daily life and actions, his love for the Lord shone through him.  While we miss him dearly, we are so thankful that he is now free of his earthly body and rejoice in knowing that he is with Jesus.  A Celebration of Life will be held on May 7, 2016 at 2 pm at First Ave Christian Assembly 46510 First Avenue, Chilliwack, BC.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the ALS Society of BC can be made in Neil’s honour.

Dear Donna,
We have just returned from a holiday and as I was catching up with the local newspaper, I saw Neil’s obituary. I was so shocked as was George. Our sympathy and thoughts go out to you at this time. I know you have many wonderful memories to help you through the road ahead.

Sincerely, George and Fran

Dearest Donna, Deana and family, Leanne and family and extended family ~ our hearts are so touched with the loss of your dearly beloved Neil. We are filled to the top with warm memories of all our connections and cherish every one of them. Neil’s life brought blessing to our family for 40 years and his testimony had great impact on many. We are so blessed with all the history we enjoy with you….. from camping times to the Singing Christmas Tree, from Disneyland to Drumheller, from the barbeque to the dining room table, from the altar to the Dairy Queen, from our backyards to Nanoose Bay, from the word “beatnik” to the word “behind”, on and on and on. Neil’s life was like a gift to many … and what a gift it was. ALS may have gotten the best of his body but it couldn’t silence his courage, couldn’t conquer his spirit and certainly couldn’t shatter his faith. We support you and surround you with loving prayers and encouragements. “God gives us memories so we can have roses in December.” love, Jim & Marci Falconer
