Tribute
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandpa, Otto Henry Ollech born March 21 st , 1935, in Worsley, Alberta passed away on December 7, 2025, at age 90, in his home in Abbotsford, British Columbia.
He is survived by his daughter, Catherine Thorson; and five grandsons: Sean, Paul and Matthew Ollech, Perrin and Liam Thorson, one sister-in-law, Maxine, as well as many nieces, nephews and very good friends.
Otto worked hard all his life. At an early age working as a farm hand in Alberta and then moved to B.C. where he worked at the Pulp Mill in Port Alberni and in 1962 moved with his family to Campbell River to work at Island Ready Mix where he raised his family and worked for many years. After retiring at age 60, he moved to the mainland, enjoyed living in Agassiz, Yale, Okanagan Falls, and Abbotsford.
He loved to travel in his camper, hunting moose, panning for gold, country music, playing guitar, and enjoyed playing crib. He will be fondly remembered for his quick whit, sense of humor, his caring nature, and his courage, even in his final days.
He will be greatly missed by his family, many nieces and nephews and friends. Otto’s generosity, and love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Predeceased by his parents, Paul August Ollech and Wilhelmina (Minnie) Krossa; his half brother Paul (Christina); Siblings: Emma Johnson (Reginald), Fred, Walter (Orysia), Alice Mould (Jim), George (Irene), Albert (Deanna), and Carl (Angelina); and his son, Stephen Paul Ollech.
A private graveyard burial service for family and close friends, will be held on December 17, 2025, at 1pm at Hazelwood Cemetery in Abbotsford, BC.
